By admin | August 4, 2011
Blues music comes straight from the heart. If you love blues and live in or near Philadelphia there are some great festivals that you can not miss.
Your first stop should be the Briggs Farm Blues Festival. This festival takes place in the beautiful Nescopeck Township, Luzerne County. To get there follow this simple intructions: they are located west of the intersection of Interstate 80 and 81 in northeastern PA. Exit on the 256 of I-80 route 93 and keep going north 4 miles to route 239. From there follow the signs to the festival. There is fun for every member of the family at this festival. No pets, glass bottles, or fireworks allowed at the farm.
Another good blues festival is the Billtown Blues Festival located in the Lycoming County Fairgrounds in Hughesville, PA. You can bring your own drinks for the festival but do not bring glass containers. There is a free shuttle that operates between Williamsport and the fairgrounds so take advantage of that. In case you want to bring your car. there is free parking.
Most of this blues take place during the summer so keep that mind. “The blues tells a story” John Lee Hooker
